Justice Christina E. Nolan’s Investiture Ceremony Held at Vermont Supreme Court
Vermont Supreme Court Associate Justice Christina E. Nolan’s Investiture Ceremony was held before a packed courtroom as many others observed it via livestream at the Vermont Supreme Court Building on March 17, 2026. The ceremony began with Chief Justice Paul Reiber and Associate Justices Harold Eaton, Nancy Waples and Michael Drescher entering the historic courtroom and taking their places on the Supreme Court bench. Chief Justice Reiber welcomed Justice Nolan’s many family members, friends and colleagues in attendance. State Court Administrator and emcee Teri Corsones first introduced Justice Nancy Waples, whose eloquent and inspirational remarks are linked HERE, followed by heartfelt remarks from Federal Magistrate Judge Kevin Doyle and by frequently humorous remarks from long-time friend Hinesburg Police Sergeant Frank Bryan. Governor Phil Scott provided insightful remarks about the appointment process followed by Justice Nolan’s partner Jill Barcia conducting the symbolic robing ceremony. Justice Nolan thanked the many family members and friends whom she credited with inspiring and supporting her throughout her career before taking her place on the bench to enthusiastic applause.
